What we collect, and why.

The short version

We collect your email address so we can send you the newsletter. We measure which pages and ads bring people in. We don’t sell your data, and we don’t send your email address to anyone in a readable form.

Advertising and the Meta pixel

This site runs the Meta pixel. It records that a page was viewed and that a signup happened, so we can tell which ads actually work.

When you subscribe, our server also reports that signup to Meta directly. That report includes a one-way SHA-256 hash of your email address — a scrambled fingerprint used only to match the signup to an ad click. Your actual email address is never sent to Meta.

We also use a hashed copy of our subscriber list to exclude existing subscribers from our ads, so we’re not paying to advertise to people who already read the newsletter.

You can control how Meta uses data about you in your Meta ad preferences. Blocking trackers in your browser, or using an ad blocker, prevents the pixel from loading and does not affect your subscription in any way.
